New challenge: 30 days of fonts!
Starting today, 30 days of showcasing my fonts. In this post, I explain why I decided to run that kind of challenge.
Hello my friend,
Today, I am starting a new challenge. I say a challenge but it is not totally true. For 30 days, I am going to publish a post on Instagram showcasing my fonts. But it is not really a challenge because most of them are already made :) But I did not find any better word for that so, well…
During 30 days, I will post an “in use” example of my fonts, and this for many reasons:
I love to create and when I launch a new font I like to communicate about it. I get a few sales and then it disappears. And I don’t think about promoting it later on. It is the same with my prints. Part of my job is to communicate about my products regularly so people continue to discover them, and think about them for whenever they have a project. And I don’t really do that. I always start new things, new projects and communicate only about the new things. Which means that my revenues rely on new productions. Which is not good. I need to create regularly posts around my existing fonts. I can be visuals or process posts. This is why I do that 30 days challenge. I want to show my fonts and perhaps get sales. I am not sure if it is a good idea but you never know if you don’t try :)
I chose to create 30 “in-use” visuals because I have never been convinced that showing only letters of your fonts, just like do too many foundries out there, is the best idea to help the client to visualise the use of the font in his project. I saw a poll last year (but I can’t remember where) that showed that point. People wanted to see more in use. So for the next 30 days, I will post on Instagram, each day, an “in-use” of each of my 6 fonts.
I am a big fan of stats, so it is also interesting for me to see if I can sell some fonts using that challenge. See if doing “in-use” visuals help people decide if they need it or not. Or would eventually need it in the future. I know it also depends on the quality of my fonts. If people don’t like them, they won’t buy them, even if I do fantastic visuals. So it is going to be interesting to see how it goes, and I won’t miss to make a post afterward to give you some numbers :P
Last point, and as an incentive, all of my fonts will be 30% off during the challenge.
So here it is. It is not because I promote my fonts for the next 30 days that I will stop afterwards. It really has to become a routine for me. Like, post 2 visuals each week on Monday and Wednesday for example. I have to find a way. Having ADHD makes it harder because I always want to start new things and don’t want to spend time on what is already done. But part of my revenues and especially passive income depend on that communication.
So here we go! I hope you will like the visuals, you may discover new uses of my fonts for your project. After the challenge I will be happy to know what you think about this challenge. I may run a live chat here on Substack.
Here are 3 of the coming visuals:
Have a nice end of the week and talk to you next week :)
Take care,
Francis
