New limited series of prints!
Nothing beats analog lately for me and that was really fun to create these smalls series. I hope you like them too :)
Hello friends,
First of all I want to thank you all for your kind messages and comments you let me after my post last week. I see it talked to some of you and that is my goal by sharing all that stuff. like a good reminder that we are not alone.
So this week I worked on 2 new prints. These are 2 “doves” prints. As I say on the shop, the times are really difficult for every one and it is sometimes important to deliver a positive message of love, peace and hope. That is what I had in mind with these artworks.
Also, something I would like to develop more is to deliver more valuable and unique work. So I did these 2 prints in very limited series (5 and 7 units) with keeping the same prices. Probably they should be more expensive but it is really important for me that Art stays affordable to everyone. I will price paintings on canvas differently for sure but prints will stay affordable.
So here it is the link to my shop, the last 2 prints being the ones at the top :)
And here are some pictures of them I made for the shop. I hope you like them :)
The first one is screen printed but in a very handmade way as I did not use any screen emulsion but just a paper stencil and decided to keep it rough so it could relate to the chaos our world can be into these days. On top of it I did some collages with yellow cardboard. The print is 30x40cms and printed on 360g Fine Arts paper.
The second is smaller, 20x20cms but still printed on the same paper. Here I used a brand new method to me, Gel printing, which could be assimilated to monotype. I did buy a gel plate on which I add acrylics paint and through a stencil, I print the doves.
Here are some pictures of the process:
The result is fantastic to me, the Outremer blue playing a big role. The texture is great too.
It is now a habit I have, but you are the first to know, I won’t communicate about the prints on social medias until Monday, so you can get one before anybody else :)
If you have any questions regarding the prints or the process, don’t hesitate to leave me a comment or to reply to the email.
I hope I can make some of these pretty often as it is so much fun and I think what I like the most about it is that you never know how it is going to look like, what the outcome will be. And that feeling which can be scary at first, is really satisfying at the end.
Some inspiration before letting you go on weekend?
This week I would like to share with you a French artist I really liked for a long time and I don’t think I did share his work here. He is a great illustrator but also a great printer. Here is the work of Jean Mosambi (oh and he likes doves too ;-))
This is it for today, enjoy your weekend, and next weekend I will probably share with you a great project I am about to start. This will be around laser cutting and printing. So stay tuned and see you next week!
Take care,
Francis
