Hello my friends,
That was a really long time I did not release any font. More than one year I think. But today, I am happy to launch Jazzman, my new fun, hand made and always with that retro, mid-century vibe :) And this time I tried to focus a bit more on one of my passion, music. So the whole project was thought around Jazz, and especially jazz from the 50/60s.
But let’s be honest here, If I looked at some jazz inspiration, mid century graphic design is so large that you find kind of the same ideas in different areas, like jazz, but also, movies or magazines. So if I named my font Jazzman, it does not mean you can only use it for music purpose of course. I am sure it can fit many many purpose.
So here are some visuals I did for the launch. I would love to animate some stuff but I don’t have the skills and no money to pay someone for now. But for that font, I really want to think about animating it in the next months.
What do you think?
For the process side, it was all made on Fontself for the iPad. Yes, you hear me right, I did not use any computer to create that font. Fontself is so perfect for hand made fonts. It does manage spacing and kerning for you, so the process can be really fast. Now the app has many features that help you on the refining side too. This is a really cool app to use. Go try it :)
For now the font will be only available on my website, and within weeks I will publish too on Ilovetypography.com and Creative Market. I might also consider other distributors, but I am not sure yet.
I will also try to promote it a bit better than my other fonts. I mean I like to do them, I like to launch them, but after few weeks I find it difficult to keep communicating about them. I like to focus on new things and I am not a bit fan about reminding people that my fonts exist :D
Here is the link again to buy Jazzman if you think you could use it for a project, personal or pro, if you just want to play with it or only to support my work :)
Some inspiration to start the week!
Today I would like to introduce you to the work of Marie Pressmar, a French artist who makes great type murals, canvases and graphic design. Letters, colors, shapes, everything is great and she really deserves that spotlight. Go and follow her.
This is it for today :) See you on Friday, take care and don’t forget to go out and take a walk, or a nap. Oh actually, talking about nap, or walk, I just started that book about the importance of rest in a fucked up capitalism society:
I will tell you more about it the coming weeks.
Again, take care and see you on Friday.
