Some reads to inspire you :)
Hi everyone,
Instead of telling you many things about my work or my experience, today, I would like to do it short and give you some homework and ask you read a few things.
1. Big Magic from Elizabeth Gilbert
I read this book few weeks ago and this really helped me for one thing: finding new ideas and inspiration. E.Gilbert shares something really interesting you should try try too: find places where you feel good and ideas will come.
Of course, everybody will think of the “famous” shower or going for a walk, which is true, but there are also many great places where you can get creative.
… And other places where you don’t feel inspired. For me, this is home. There are too many things to do or to think about to be creative there.
Go read the book and let me know what are the best places for you to be creative :)
2. Substack reads
Substack may have some nazis writing there, It also have some of the best writers and among them, There are people like Austin Kleon, Emma Gannon, Mason Currey and many more. And today, this is actually 2 posts I found through Mason Currey I would like to share.
The first one is about walking. Again. Yes, I think this is important. So here is again a post about how and why walking is important for your creativity. And also why you will find in Nature more ideas for your next work than saying behind your screen :)
The second is a bit different but has some kind of the same goal to me: taking some time off to get new ideas. If the post is more about how you deal with paid subscribers when you are off, I think this is a good example about how our society thinks you should always be working or available.
This is the same for Social Medias. You should be posting everyday if you want to keep the algorithm working nicely for you.
F*ck this! Do it your way, take a break and again you will be surprised that sometimes this is where you get the best ideas and you will come back more fresh and ready to do the work.
3. Don’t forget to back that project!
Yes, today is a short newsletter but don’t forget you have homework! Haha! Before leaving, don’t forget that fantastic project from Elliot Jay Stocks on Kickstarter. I talked about it 2 weeks ago I think, but we need to see that project see the light. We need to see more indie projects and indie books. So please, go back it, you will get a great collector book before the end of the year!
This is it for today. Yes, this is a short one but sometimes short is good too. Enjoy the rest of the week and go out to get new ideas :)
Take care,
Francis
